Kelly® Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Controls Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with a leading supplier of hydraulic presses and automation equipment in Fenton, MO. Overview

Our client engineers custom metal forming solutions and manufacture hydraulic presses, servo-electric presses, and automation equipment. Their products are used in a variety of applications, including aerospace forming, deep drawing, automation, compression molding, and more.

We're seeking a seasoned Electrical Controls Engineer to spearhead the design and execution of cutting-edge control systems for a diverse range of press machinery. As a Senior Engineer, you'll take charge of crafting industrial control panels that adhere to stringent UL 508A standards, crafting PLC programs, and developing user-friendly HMI interfaces for our press equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design control panel drawing sets using AutoCAD Electrical, guiding in-house electricians in industrial control panel construction.
  • Ensure compliance with UL 508A and ISO 13849 safety standards in all electrical designs.
  • Monitor project budgets to ensure adherence to quoted guidelines.
  • Prepare comprehensive Controls Approval documents for client review and accommodate hardware modifications as needed.
  • Develop PLC programs on Allen-Bradley platforms and intuitive HMI interfaces using Aveva Edge and AB Panel View.
  • Program motion control systems and integrate third-party controls using Delta RMC Tools and Yaskawa MotionWorks.
  • Develop HMI extensions using traditional programming languages (HTML5, SQL, VBScript and create simple Industrial IT networks.
  • Oversee in-house machinery start-up and testing for optimal efficiency.
  • Occasionally provide on-site commissioning or training, with up to 25% travel.
  • Test sub-system performance, such as heaters, load cells, or third-party equipment.
  • Contribute to peer reviews, ensuring design accuracy and compliance.
  • Work closely with customers to line out details of control plans and sequencing.
  • Collaborate with management, shop leads, and customers, providing regular project updates and support during installation and warranty work.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 7+ years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive industrial control panel design experience
  • Highly proficient in Allen Bradley
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD Electrical for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical Certification is strongly desired).
  • Strong knowledge of UL 508A standards.
  • Willingness to mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
