Description

SYNOPSIS: A Senior Quality Specialist is responsible for leading internal inspection and testing efforts, supporting quality-related performance goals, and driving improvement initiatives aligned with development, manufacturing, customer satisfaction, and product quality. In addition, the Senior Quality Specialist provides support and guidance to less experienced quality professionals. Success in this role will be defined by implementing effective quality improvement opportunities to minimize nonconformances and ensure adherence to internal and external quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and execution of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide informal leadership and guidance to less experienced quality professionals.
  • Stay informed about quality assurance best practices and advancements.
  • Execute inspection and test procedures in accordance with established specifications.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality control procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain and calibrate inspection and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Perform appropriate analyses (e.g., failure analysis, root cause analysis) and tests (e.g., nondestructive, destructive) of materials, components, and/or assemblies.
  • Prepare summaries and trend analyses of quality issues and provide recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Contribute to the Quality Management System (QMS), including documentation, record keeping, and compliance.
  • Participate in design reviews and failure mode reviews.
  • Assist in leading quality audits for processes and products, including the preparation of management reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree preferred; Relevant fields of study include Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Business, etc. 
  • 8 (+) years of relevant work experience preferred. 
  • In-depth knowledge of and skill with inspection and testing equipment. 
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001. 
  • Demonstrated ability interpreting and effectively using engineering drawings and technical documentation. 
  • Proven success applying failure analysis and root cause analysis skills and techniques. 
  • Proven success communicating and working effectively with others.  
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with data and apply data analysis techniques to solve quality-related problems. 
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).  
  • Demonstrates a willingness to collaborate with others, build relationships, and involve others in decision making.  
  • Demonstrates the ability to deliver results by solving or supporting others in solving problems, prioritizing tasks and/or resources, and focusing on outcomes.  
  • Demonstrates self-awareness and the willingness to learn and grow, accept changes, and effectively adapt to changing work demands.  
  • Demonstrates the ability to drive customer value through knowledge of the business, putting effort into identifying customer needs, and delivering work to maximize the value for customers.

SUPPORTING QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Relevant American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification(s) (e.g., CQT, CQA, etc.). 
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification. 
  • IPC A-600 and A-610 certifications. 
  • Experience in electronics and soldering operations. 
  • Error-proofing knowledge. 
  • Knowledge of SAP or other enterprise-wide management software. 
  • Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Able to lift at least 35 pounds. 
  • Able to use pallet jack with 300-pound load. 
  • Able to use portable staircase and climb to 12-foot heights. 
  • Able to carry 20 pound/ 3 cubic feet boxes up and down portable staircase. 
  • Able to push 4-wheeled cart with 100-pound load. 
  • Able to work 8 hours overtime a week, if required. 
  • Able to stand or sit continually for two hours without break. 
  • Able to use computer for two hours at a time without break. 
  • Good color vision. 
  • Must be able to speak, understand and write in English. 
  • Willing to travel for training 1 or 2-day sessions a few times a year. 
  • Willing to travel to other Phoenix Contact sites once a year for training. 
  • Willing to travel to local suppliers a few times a year.
