Join Our Team as a Software Test Engineer in the Medical Device Industry!

Location: Plymouth, MN
Duration: 6+ months with a high likelihood of extension
Type: Onsite

What You'll Do:
As a Software Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of cutting-edge medical devices. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, implementing, debugging, and executing software tests according to corporate policies and business operating procedures for both new and sustaining engineering projects.
  • Reviewing test results, defects, and change requests to analyze software impacts and improve product quality.
  • Working on specific tasks under the direction of a manager or senior test engineer, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Participating in test reviews to better understand requirements and receive guidance on test approaches.
  • Applying test design principles and technologies to verify that software meets requirements and to identify anomalies in software operation.
  • Supporting senior engineers in investigating new test technologies and tools.
  • Performing module-level and functional-level testing of software applications.
  • Documenting defects meticulously, capturing steps to reproduce issues and providing information for debugging.
  • Identifying opportunities for test automation within projects.
  • Validating software test tools according to corporate procedures.
  • Collecting data to generate metrics that assess test progress and software quality.
  • Creating and maintaining automated test scripts using appropriate scripting languages and tools to support project needs (Nice to have).
What You Need to Be Successful:
  • At least 2+ years of progressive engineering experience in testing embedded software applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering. Degrees in other engineering disciplines may be acceptable with proven software education/training and demonstrated software experience.
  • Proven experience in testing embedded software applications.
  • Ability to work effectively within project teams, following guidance and collaborating with peers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to accurately interpret requirements and test results.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Preferred experience with defect management and test management tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing software solutions or test scripts using Python (Nice to have).
  • Competence in scripting languages such as Python and Perl (Nice to have).
  • Practical experience in C/C++ object-oriented analysis and programming, and multi-threaded/multi-tasking programming is desired (Nice to have).
