Kelly Government Solutions is seeking a highly responsible Contract Special Security Officer (SSO) Secure Construction Site Monitor to ensure the safety, security, and compliance of a controlled construction site. This position requires vigilance, discretion, and strict adherence to security protocols. The ideal candidate will be dependable, observant, and able to enforce security standards while maintaining professionalism with contractors and staff. This role requires an active Secret Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Open the secure facility at 6:00 AM (if not already opened by an authorized GSC or Project Manager representative).
- Verify valid Pratt & Whitney yellow/blue badges and ensure proper display at all times (exceptions only for life-safety situations).
- Maintain contractor accountability by ensuring all yellow-badged personnel sign in and sign out daily.
- Monitor contractors to ensure no electronic devices (cell phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, etc.) are brought into the secure space.
- Prevent and report unauthorized or unescorted access to the facility; verify exceptions with GSC or Project Manager.
- Validate site access needs for new contractors/subcontractors with authorized personnel.
- Observe and monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with security protocols and the integrity of construction work.
- Immediately report any suspicious activity to the GSC primary or Project Manager alternate.
- Perform additional security-related duties as directed by the GSC Physical Security team.
- Secure the facility at the end of the workday by ensuring the combination lock is properly spun/secured after the last contractor exits.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a security, monitoring, or site access control role preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to recognize and respond to security risks.
- Reliable and punctual, able to open/secure the facility daily at designated times.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with contractors and staff professionally.
- Ability to enforce rules with consistency, fairness, and discretion.
- Must be able to work onsite in a secure environment.
