Location: Franklin Park, IL
Pay Rate: $25 per hour
Shift: 2nd Shift – 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday to Friday

Overview:
Kelly Services is partnering with a local client to recruit a skilled Tool Grinder B in Franklin Park, IL. This Direct Hire position offers a competitive pay rate and the opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and instructions to prepare materials and tools for grinding operations.
• Set up equipment for various grinding operations, including surface, drill pointing, broaching, hobbing, and others on steel and carbide cutters, reamers, dies, gauges, form tools, or custom items.
• Plan the sequence of operations, select appropriate workpiece holding methods, and verify dimensions, tolerances, tooling, and grinding specifications.
• Dress and select grinding wheels, adjusting grind rotation, spindle speeds, feed rates, wheel angles, cycle lengths, and cut depths as needed.
• Position blades, cams, diamonds, and stops, measuring workpieces to determine material removal requirements.
• Secure workpieces on tables, face plates, or magnetic chucks, ensuring proper alignment between centers of wheels.
• Start machines, engage automatic mechanisms, direct coolant flow, and monitor operations for quality.
• Conduct secondary operations to achieve high finish specifications, securing first-piece inspection approval.
• Maintain equipment by cleaning, lubricating, changing worn wheels, and ensuring operational safety devices are functional.
• Utilize measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, comparators, and height gauges, along with various machine tools and hand tools.
• Adhere to safety protocols while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Operate a lathe to establish centers as necessary after brazing.
• Grind outside diameter profiles and face basic tools, including one-step and two-step drills and reamers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
