Description

Job Title: Toolmaker Assistant
Location: Thomaston, CT
Pay: $18 - $20 per hour
Reports To: Tool Room Supervisor Position Summary
As a Toolmaker Assistant, you will play a critical support role in maintaining and preparing high-precision mold tooling used in our manufacturing processes. You'll work alongside experienced Mold Makers and contribute to keeping our production environment efficient, clean, and running smoothly. Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble mold tooling and components
  • Perform basic repairs and routine maintenance on molds
  • Stage and prepare tooling for reassembly
  • Clean ultrasonic equipment and maintain cleaning stations
  • Assist Mold Makers as needed with daily operations
  • Maintain shop organization and cleanliness through regular housekeeping
  • Follow safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
What We're Looking For
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience in molding or tooling environments a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Ability to read and follow both verbal and written instructions in English
  • Comfortable operating basic hand tools and simple machinery
  • Team player who works well independently with minimal supervision
  • Capable of handling and safely disposing of cleaning chemicals
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Comfortable working with small, detailed components requiring visual precision
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position involves working in a manufacturing environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Use of PPE is mandatory on the production floor
  • Requires frequent lifting, standing, stooping, and manual handling
  • Work with high-polish and intricate tooling parts
