This full-time union position will provide for the maximum utilization of electrical equipment and control apparatus used in supplying power to consumers served by Kodiak Electric Association through a traditional work schedule of five eight-hour days, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week).

Kodiak Electric Association (KEA) is a progressive and innovative stand-alone generation, transmission, and distribution electric cooperative located on spectacular Kodiak Island in the Gulf of Alaska, 252 air miles southwest of Anchorage, serving approximately 6,000 meters with 388 miles of line.  The cooperative is recognized as an industry leader in implementing sustainable, renewable energy solutions with environmental stewardship, and in 2023, our renewable portfolio of hydro and wind generated over 99% of our power.  KEA operates and maintains one hydroelectric plant, one wind farm, a Battery energy storage system (BESS), a Flywheel energy storage system (FESS), two diesel generator power plants, one combined cycle plant, six substations, and 388 miles of distribution lines.  Our Vision Statement:  Endeavor to maintain 98% of energy sales with cost effective renewable power solutions for the future of our members and the community.

Applicants must qualify as an IBEW journeyman electrical lineman.  Must have or be able to obtain a current Journeyman Power Lineman Certificate of Fitness from the State of Alaska Division of Labor Standards and Safety and have the equivalent of formal post-secondary education in electrical theory or four or more years of formal apprenticeship training.  Hiring preference will be given to candidates with a high school diploma and who have completed a JATC apprenticeship.  High school diploma or equivalent is required.
