Key Responsibilities
The Senior Specialist, Product Regulatory is responsible for working with internal stakeholders as needed to ensure product portfolio (raw materials, products, byproduct manufactured, imported or distributed) is in compliance with regulatory requirements in various jursidictions.Other key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Investigate and respond to complex customer requests for regulatory information in support of assigned region or business application. Engage with other stakeholders as needed. Involve legal with manager approval.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the regulations in region and business applications as assigned. Conduct thorough analysis of impact of new/revised regulations on Kraton and communicate impact to all key stakeholders. Lead development of necessary actions; this includes preparation a/o submission of any required registrations/notifications with the support of external consultants as needed. Track and monitor volumes for action and reporting.
- Assist in new product development and launch by understanding the business applications; defining regulatory requirements and assisting in development and implementation of plans to bring the products to market in a timely and cost-effective manner. Maintain a thorough understanding of the strategic goals for global expansion and commercialization and be able to execute on plan.
- Act as subject matter expert in at least two major regulatory areas (i.e. REACH, TSCA, hazard communication, specific business applications).
- If assigned, perform hazard determination and author globally compliant Safety Data Sheets. Perform trade compliance (HTS) and dangerous goods DG assessments for portfolio periodic review.
- Plan and execute periodic audits of facilities, plants and warehouses as needed. Lead periodic audits of management systems, records and operations to ensure compliance.
- Act as focal point for management of change (MOC) review and approval for assigned manufacturing locations.
- Lead design of new processes and improve existing processes. Drive efficiencies in various processes and systems on a continuous basis.
- Develop and conduct training related to product regulatory requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent Kraton in assigned trade organizations (may hold leadership position) or at conferences. Drive technical direction to advocate for regulatory requirements in line with the company's interests.
- Use internal management systems and workflows to review raw materials and finished goods for compliance with applicable regulations. This includes development of test plans and completion of required notifications/registrations. Coordinate, monitor and assess results of needed testing. Communicate decisions internally for action.
- Plan and execute complex regional and global multi-functional projects and present project summaries to management levels.
- In addition, other duties as assigned to safely perform.
- 8+ years of in Product Regulatory or Product Stewardship.
- Proficient in knowledge of all product lines, manufacturing processes, uses, etc.
- Proficient in international chemical control, hazard communication and other critical regulations (i.e. food contact, medical device, cosmetic, etc.).
- Ability to conduct complex analysis of products for global compliance and create communication strategy to ensure global compliance.
- Ability to effectively communicate within the organization, with customers, industry organizations, consultants, test labs and government agencies.
- Ability to devise, communicate and execute plans to meet tactical and strategic goals for global expansion and commercialization.
- Project Management skills and use of tools.
- Auditing knowledge and experience.
- Ability to hold leadership position in industry associations.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field required.
