POSITION SUMMARY

The Box Former Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and is based out of our Seabrook, New Jersey location. This individual will be responsible for the operation of the box respective to the line they are assigned to.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of the job)

Responsibilities include:

  • Know the purpose and proper operation of all safety switches, interlocks, and safety devices
  • Properly starts and stops the Box Former
  • Understand and can properly operate all machine controls: mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic
  • Has the ability to perform box cuts
  • Monitor the flow of boxes to the case packer ensuring that boxes are properly orientated on the conveyor
  • Keep their work area clean and free of debris and waste corrugated stacked neatly in the waste cart
  • Safely clears jams and resets the box's former
  • Safely operates the electric pallet jack
  • Coordinate with the relief driver and janitor so the correct boxes are available to the case packer and that waste corrugate is removed
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating the box formers
  • Proficient in size changeovers, glue pattern adjustments, minor maintenance adjustments, and preventative maintenance of the box's former
  • Maintain awareness of all safety procedures
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Aware of and wears all personal protective equipment
  • Can properly fill out all required documentation
  • Has successfully completed Box former Operator training
  • Must be capable of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
  • Must be detailed oriented and can multi-task

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry 
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment
  • Ability to direct, coach, and train others
  • Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.

 

FREQUENT:  Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in the area of responsibility.  Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).

 

OCCASIONAL:  Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program.  Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

 

VISION:  Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction.  Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high-speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

 

HEARING:  Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.  Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines, and exhaust fans.
