Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Director Operations, the Operations Analyst will be responsible to study, design, and implement methods and process improvements for both manufacturing and administrative departments. They will apply data analysis principles to help leverage data to help optimize operations, enhance efficiency and drive strategic decision-making. This role will be responsible for preparing plans, conducting support studies, and providing analysis or tests in the development of manufacturing operations.

As an Operations Analyst, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Conduct studies and provide recommendations for improving efficiency and/or utilization of personnel, equipment, materials and utilities.
  • Identify, collect, and transform datasets into actionable insights using statistical techniques, machine learning models and predictive analytics.
  • Initiates cost reduction projects and assists with implementation, which may include capital equipment justification by determining cost vs. benefit and return on investment.
  • Design and implement predictive models and algorithms that deliver value for internal customers, support key stakeholders, and optimize operational performance.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives applying Lean Six Sigma concepts.
  • Build dashboards, visualizations, interfaces, and reports that effectively communicate complex analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Works with Production Management and IT personnel to develop and/or modify reporting systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis with the objective of supporting productivity improvement.
  • Develops and maintains a direct labour standards database for production cost estimating, through time study and/or work sampling.
  • Develop and perform analytics related to supply chain and production planning.
  • Evaluate business forecasts and pinpoint any areas of vulnerability of company requirements.
  • Able to build and run queries from databases in order to develop and maintain regular weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting including building/maintenance of Business Intelligence dashboards and tools
    Monitor Target Costs against Proposal Costs.
  • Works closely with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA) and/or Information Technology (IT) to rollout and sustain process improvement changes.
  • Ability to manage, sort and provide insight from large data sets.
  • Ability to seek opportunities for cost savings and processes improvements through data analytics.
  • Maintain data integrity of ERP system and fix errors or omissions where required.
What you require to be successful in the role:
  • Coordinate with end users and technical staff to implement and maintain systems that utilize industry best practices to meet business objectives, while maintaining the security and integrity of the data, system and network
  • Generate metrics, project status reports and operating status reports for management and team members
  • Prepare, coordinate and support user training and documentation and provide technical assistance for post-implementation support issues
  • Provide service desk and technical support to users
  • Perform routine to moderately complex problem analysis and resolution design for systems and applications
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Maintain timely and accurate helpdesk records using the ticket management system
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations    
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Protect organization's value by preserving the confidentiality of information
What you require to be successful in the Role:
  • 3 yr College diploma in Industrial Engineering Technology (University degree in Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry is required;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft BI and ERP systems;
  • Effective computer skills including, excel spreadsheets and database creation, maintenance and update;
  • Knowledge of Work measurement using Pre-Determined Time Standards, Time Study, Work Sampling.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and SPC
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Ability to display data effectively;
  • Good organization skills;
  • Effective customer service skills;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills;
  • Works well within a team.
