Job Summary

The Database Administrator will design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.

Job Responsibilities

•    SQL Database Administrator for an Enterprise SQL Environment:
o    Install, configure, and monitor new and existing SQL Server instances
o    Maintain business continuity disaster recovery solutions
o    Manage SQL security
•    Troubleshooting, problem analysis and resolution in a highly complex environment:
o    Provide SQL development and tuning expertise
o    Maintain enterprise data movement applications
•    Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles
•    Maintain timely and accurate helpdesk records using the ticket management system 
•    Plan and perform scheduled maintenance
•    Support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and services
•    Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability
•    Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software
•    Assist with the design, coding, and scheduling of scripts/jobs to update, maintain, or transfer databases and simplify data entry for users 
•    Investigate errors and assist in problem diagnosis and solution development
•    Confer with colleagues on compatibility issues and upgrades
•    Generate metrics, project status reports and operating status reports for management and team members
•    Participate in the design and development of architectural layouts or enhancements to databases
•    Review description of changes to database design to understand changes and impacts to data store physical characteristics
•    Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations
•    Protect and ensure confidentiality of information contained within managed systems
 

Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree in management information systems, information technology, computer sciences, a related field, or equivalent experience
•    At least five (5) years of directly related experience in MS-SQL Server administration
•    Security, SQL queries, views, and procedures
•    Knowledge of data backups and recovery
•    Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches when required
•    Extensive knowledge of data warehouse strategies and maintenance
•    Problem solving skills, ability to evaluate complex information and determine corrective action based on analysis
•    Experience with third party tools
•    Scripting
•    Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery options
•    Generating and maintaining documentation
•    Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
•    Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team-oriented environment
