Job Summary:
Mastercard is seeking a strategic and technically proficient Analyst, Big Data Insights and Engineer to join our Commercial Insights, Services team. This role is designed for a professional who not only excels in data engineering and analytics but also understands the business implications of data insights. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise in ETL, SQL, and data visualization tools to deliver actionable insights that drive Mastercard's business strategies, particularly in the fast-evolving payments domain.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Data Integration: Lead the design, development, and optimization of ETL processes using tools like SSIS and Alteryx. Ensure seamless data flow and integration to support critical business operations and decision-making processes.
• Business-Driven Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth data analysis using SQL, T-SQL, and Excel to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that directly influence business strategy, customer engagement, and product development.
• Business Intelligence Reporting: Create and maintain sophisticated dashboards and reports in Tableau and Power BI, transforming complex data sets into intuitive visualizations that guide business leaders in strategic decision-making.
• Domain Expertise in Payments: Apply your knowledge of the payments industry to contextualize data insights, ensuring that analytics directly support Mastercard's business goals and market positioning.
• Problem Solving with Business Impact: Identify and resolve data-related issues with a focus on minimizing business disruption. Provide timely and strategic solutions that support Mastercard's overall business objectives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business leaders, product managers, and technical teams to gather requirements, provide data-driven insights, and communicate complex technical concepts in clear business terms.
• Project Leadership: Manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously, balancing technical detail with business priorities to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of industry trends and leverage emerging technologies to enhance Mastercard's data capabilities. Utilize Python for basic scripting and automation to improve efficiency and support innovation in data processing.
Qualifications:
• Education: B-Tech degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Experience:
o 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, and business intelligence, with a demonstrated ability to translate data into business insights.
o Proficiency in ETL tools like SSIS and Alteryx, with a strong focus on optimizing processes for business value.
o Expert SQL and T-SQL skills for sophisticated data manipulation and analysis.
o Proven experience with Tableau and Power BI for creating business-oriented data visualizations.
o Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data modeling, to support detailed business analysis.
o Basic knowledge of Python for scripting, with a focus on improving business processes.
o Solid understanding of the payments industry and its impact on data strategy and analysis.
• Skills:
o Strong business acumen with the ability to link technical data analysis to business outcomes.
o Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering business value.
o Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Experience with big data technologies e.g. Hadoop and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) with a business-driven focus.
• Knowledge of data governance, with an emphasis on aligning data management practices with business strategy.
