Compliance Director - New Product Development Overview
Mastercard Transaction Services (MTS) is an enterprise asset that enables Mastercard to offer regulated payment products through several entities holding payment licences in key locations across the world. MTS is a global business serving customers across all continents on a 24/7 basis.

The Role
The Director, Product Development works as part of a small team responsible for assessing the financial crime risks associated with new products under development, and for building out the associated policies, procedures, and effective controls. Working cross functionally, the role holder will act as the liaison point between the Product teams, Technical teams, and the Compliance Leadership Group.

This role will be responsible for:
• Assessing new products or product enhancements and identifying the inherent financial crime risks.
• Completing and maintaining the required risk assessments for new products and enhancements.
• Providing input into Financial Crime policy development as required.
• Developing appropriate Compliance policies, processes, and documented controls to mitigate identified risks to acceptable levels.
• Overseeing the delivery of technical builds for Compliance undertaken by other functions.
• Specifying suitable pre implementation testing and post implementation validation to mitigate implementation risk.
• Providing adequate assurance to the Compliance Leadership Team to enable products to go live as smoothly as possible.
• Liaising with other functions across Mastercard, including Product Teams, Regulatory, Finance, and Global Compliance.
• Representing and advocating for the Compliance position in working groups and project meetings.
• Engaging with third party suppliers as required.
• Preparing clear and concise reporting for the Compliance Leadership Team.
• Completing applicable regulatory inventories for each entity as required.
• Analysing significant external frauds and regulatory findings to identify patterns and potential improvements for MTS.
• Participating in regulatory and industry outreach related to Financial Crime.

All About You
You will already be an experienced Compliance professional from an international payments or transactional banking background, ideally with exposure to a large global business and high risk markets gained over several years.

You will have demonstrable experience in developing and deploying compliance controls in the form of policies and procedures, along with associated financial crime systems covering Due Diligence, Screening, and Transaction Monitoring. Familiarity with advanced, automated systems — including the use of AI — is a strong advantage.

Experience working in a matrix environment across multiple time zones and stakeholders, occasionally with competing objectives, will further strengthen your application.

The ability to influence senior leaders and present persuasive arguments is essential for this role.

As a quick thinker with deep subject matter expertise, you will be well placed to identify and respond to emerging product risks, suggesting suitable and cost effective controls.

Experience in emerging markets within the fintech and payments sectors is helpful.

A globally recognised AML qualification is desirable, and you will also be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
