Title and Summary
Director, Deal Management (Background: FP&A, M&A or Strategy) Overview:The Deal Management team supports business development and account teams in structuring and reviewing deals with new and existing customers. Deal management is the owner of the end to end process for deals within LAC.
Accountability:
• End-to-end ownership of deal process.
• Work with sales team to ensure business case model accurately reflects deal structure.
• Partner with sales team to provide advice on deal structure, best practices and strategic intent with customer.
• Active participant in deal committee, ensuring process is carried through.
• Reviews business case model, deal structure, objective, etc. This includes benchmark against similar proposals, identification of risks, discussion on unique issues (e.g., other impacted areas of MC, unique characteristics of portfolio, proposed sales strategy).
• Drives approval process with Management and seeks internal approval.
• Assists in resolution of issues raised by customer regarding the incentive offer (may result in direct discussions with issuer or customer). This includes creating impact analyses of issuer requests to be reviewed with Management.
• Reviews drafted contract and ensures incentives agree to the approved business case. Ensures all other terms agree with approved business case (e.g., term, claw backs, customer commitments).
• Provides expertise on many cross functional work teams (e.g., assist in quantifying revenue impact for certain initiatives, etc.).
• Together with the BD and business/account leads, manage the deal pipeline and related various reporting.
• Contribute to LAC other finance activities such as the development and implementation of long-term strategies to enhance MasterCard profitability and competitive leverage.
• Support ad hoc and/or regional strategic initiatives aiming at streamlining/enhancing the deal approval process and assist in providing consultative support, thought leadership, strategy, innovative ideas and approaches to senior management.
• Provides leadership by guiding and prioritizing the team to focus on the key deals by aligning efforts with business objectives and market opportunities.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent.
• Experience in financial analysis, deal management, strategy, sales planning, M&A or consulting.
• Bilingual (English-Spanish) required.
• Knowledge/experience with the payments industry will be a plus.
• Solid analytical background.
• Exceptional Excel skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to influence effectively.
