Title and Summary
Director, Finance Business Partner - Core Payments OverviewThis Director, Finance Business Partner -- Core Payments at Mastercard will serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders of the Core Network product and engineering teams, driving financial performance, enabling data-driven decisions, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role combines financial expertise with business acumen to influence strategy and deliver sustainable growth.
We seek a strategic thinker with deep financial expertise and proven leadership skills. This manager will lead a team of finance professionals and collaborate closely with product and engineering groups to understand the financial impact of business decisions. Success in this role requires strong stakeholder management, analytical capabilities, and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to executives.
Role
• Lead budgeting and forecasting for short- and long-term plans; prepare and analyze internal and external financial reports.
• Manage month-end close processes and report variances to forecast.
• Monitor revenue and expenses, assess risks and opportunities, and incorporate macroeconomic factors into financial planning.
• Partner effectively with senior management to manage business unit financials.
• Finalize divisional budgets and quarterly and monthly forecasts to achieve financial targets.
• Oversee detailed personnel forecasting, business case tracking, and financial analysis.
• Collaborate with sourcing and business owners to analyze vendor negotiations and proposals.
• Help build and enhance the Technology Business Management framework to enable data-driven decision-making.
• Support monthly and quarterly internal and corporate reporting deliverables
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities; contribute to project teams for operational enhancements.
• Lead or support special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed.
• Partner with regions, product teams, technology providers, and corporate entities to develop, analyze, validate, price, and commercialize new business opportunities.
• Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate scenarios and support strategic decisions.
• Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and regulatory requirements.
• Manage a global team, including goal setting, performance appraisals, and talent development.
• Maintain deep knowledge of business objectives to effectively partner and meet budget and operational goals.
All About You
• Previous leadership-level finance experience; experience supporting product or engineering functions in a technology organization is highly desirable.
• Fast-paced, results-driven, highly analytical, and detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency.
• BS or BA with a major in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (MBA/CPA Preferred) with previous finance experience
• Proven track record of building internal and external business partnerships and influencing stakeholders.
• Experience consulting business units on risk and opportunity considerations using advanced analytics and market insights.
• Strong interpersonal, relationship management, storytelling, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and internal controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Access, Oracle, Apptio, Agile IT methodology, Tableau, Power BI, Workday, and Hyperion is a plus.
