Overview 

The Principal of Operational Strategy defines, implements, and continuously improves the systems and processes that help Product and Engineering teams operate efficiently, deliver with quality, and make data-informed decisions. 

This role designs cross-functional workflows that drive clarity, collaboration, and accountability while building a cohesive data and analytics strategy to measure performance and identify opportunities for improvement. 

As a strategic individual contributor, the Principal partners with Product, Engineering, and Program leaders to influence outcomes and drive operational transformation. 

  

Role 

Lead Operational Excellence and Drive Process Optimization  

Architect and continuously refine cross-functional processes that strengthen collaboration and efficiency across Product and Engineering, such as the product development lifecycle and decision-making.  

Lead documentation and knowledge management, ensuring processes are clearly communicated and consistently applied.  

Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks through data-driven insights and stakeholder feedback.  

Drive Data Strategy and Data-Informed Culture 

Define and own the data strategy for Product & Engineering operations, including key performance metrics (KPIs) for delivery health, efficiency, and quality.  

Partner with analytics team to build and maintain dashboards and reporting mechanisms that provide actionable visibility into operational performance.  

Promote a data-informed culture that leverages insights to guide priorities and decisions.  

Translate data into strategic recommendations that drive operational improvement.  

Enable, Train and Empower Organizational Learning 

Develop and implement an enablement strategy to ensure teams adopt new processes, tools, and data practices.  

Create and deliver training, workshops, and onboarding materials that equip teams to operate effectively within defined frameworks.  

Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and best-practice adoption.  

Partner with HR and functional leaders to embed operational excellence into leadership development and career progression.  

Champion Continuous Improvement and Culture of Efficiency  

Lead continuous improvement initiatives, using retrospectives, surveys, and operational data.  

Advocate best practices in communication, decision-making, and tooling to increase overall organizational effectiveness.  

Model and promote a mindset of experimentation, iteration, and operational excellence across all teams.  

 

All about you:  

You bring 10+ years of experience in operations, strategy, and program management within Product or Engineering organizations, driving clarity and scale in fast-paced, high-growth environments. 

You possess deep knowledge of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and have successfully led or supported Agile transformation and assimilation across Product and Engineering organizations, driving cultural adoption, operational alignment, and measurable delivery improvements. 

You have a proven record of defining and expanding operational frameworks, implementing data-driven strategies that influence decisions at scale, and connecting process improvements directly to business outcomes. With a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and product management best practices, you operate seamlessly across technical and strategic domains. 

A clear, persuasive communicator, you simplify complexity, inspire teams, and secure buy-in for change. You thrive in ambiguity, balancing strategic vision with pragmatic execution and consistently maintain focus on measurable impact. 

Analytical and outcome-oriented, you identify bottlenecks, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver efficient, scalable solutions. You're passionate about continuous improvement. fostering a culture of learning, experimentation, and excellence across teams. 

Collaborative and trusted, you build strong partnerships across organizations and influence senior leaders with insight, empathy, and data. You're fluent in modern collaboration and analytics tools such as Jira, Tableau, Snowflake, and SharePoint.
