Title and Summary

Lead Software Engineer (HP NonStop, Guardian NonStop Kernel) Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join Mastercard and contribute to improving the transaction time for millions of daily debit transactions across the world. This position is on the Authorization performance engineering team that partner with development teams on optimization and testing. We are looking for an experienced engineer that is passionate about performance with a constant focus on improving system quality.

Responsibilities
• Work closely with software development teams to identify project risks to ensure that each release does not negatively impact performance
• Dig into HP NonStop components, middleware, vendor software, and Mastercard's application code/scripts to identify performance bottlenecks
• Design, configure, and execute performance tests and drive resolution of failures
• Improve the performance environment with your own code, automation, and onboarding of external tools (i.e. Dynatrace and Splunk)
• Apply technical capabilities to coach and develop junior engineers
• Deliver department and external presentations sharing results with stakeholders

All About You
• Strong experience troubleshooting performance issues dealing with throughput, latency, memory, and CPU utilization
• Software engineering experience in TAL, C, C++, and/or TACL with HP NonStop development tools (NSDEE, Eclipse, Visual Inspect)
• Experience with ISO 8583 messaging, ATM driving, and/or POS transactions on payment applications such as ACI's Base24
• Proficiency with HP NonStop utilities & sub-systems – Guardian NonStop Kernel, OSS, SQL MP/MX, PathWay, Enscribe, Prognosis, Expand, SCF, TMF, FUP, TACL, NBEXEC & TCP/IP communications protocol
• Bonus if experience with Linux and Shell Scripting
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
• Time/project management, workload prioritization, knowledge sharing and a passion to learn/take on challenges is a must
• Self-motivated demonstrating strong organizational and listening skills; and very detail oriented with the ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• Communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of the organization and with external partners
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Appetite for change and pushing the boundaries of what can be done with automation. Be curious about new technology, infrastructure, and practices to scale our architecture and prepare for future growth
• Willingness and ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities and to work as a member of matrix based diverse and geographically distributed project team
• Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that expected system behavior is understood and monitoring exists to detect anomalies
