Overview:
Mastercard Distributed Platform Linux Engineering team are comprised of talented, dedicated staff with deep expertise on the Linux operating system. We provide the platform running some of Mastercard's most critical applications and services. We strive to provide excellent service as a strategic partner. We look for ways to use the Linux platform to drive strategic value for Mastercard, while ensuring that our innovations protect Mastercard's reputation for safety and security. This position will be a critical part of our team, helping elevate the skills of our organization, while giving you the candidate to help us drive our next 50 years of success!

Skills
• Communicates organizational vision and infuses external industry standards and best practices into new and innovative strategic changes
• Designs architecture from proof of concept to an operationally functional application and collaborates with peers, engineers, application team(s) and user(s) to determine that all the high-level requirements have been met
• Formulates recommendations to optimize the existing platform architecture including developing creative solutions to drive innovation
• Tracks and manages architecture issues and their corresponding exceptions or corrective action plans to ensure best practices are implemented and adhered to
• Supports process improvement efforts to identify and test opportunities for automation and/or reduction in time to deployment
• Provides consultative advice and remediation to architectural and operational problems impacting infrastructure & product availability and performance globally and evaluates new technology for possible deployment in Mastercard's overall infrastructure.
• Contributes to technology guild initiatives by engaging and mentoring all levels to improve craftsmanship and conducting architect training
• Mentors and coaches team members by providing training to develop technical skills and capabilities across the organization

Specific skills:

- Demonstratable expertise on Oracle Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and compatible distros preferred
- Demonstratable expertise in configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible, or Puppet, etc.
- Demonstrated expertise in lifecycle management solutions such as Oracle Linux Manager, Cloud Control, Red Hat Satellite, etc.
- Demonstratable Hypervisor experience such as KVM, VMware, etc

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
