Title and Summary
Vice President, Government Affairs and Policy Vice President, Government Affairs and PolicyRole
The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for the development of Mastercard's global public policy positions related cyber-security, fraud, and data use/transfer, as well as a range of education, advocacy, and thought leadership materials designed to advance these policy positions.
Key responsibilities associated with this role will include:
Tracking the evolution of the global policy landscape related to cyber-security, operational resilience, critical infrastructure, fraud, and data transfer/usage
Assessing the potential impact of shifts in this policy landscape on Mastercard's operations, particularly their impact on the diverse suite products and services Mastercard deploys to safeguard the payment ecosystem from cyber/fraud threat vectors
Working with Mastercard product owners in the cybersecurity solutions and fraud space to identify policy narratives that support their strategic business objectives and develop a suite of education, advocacy, and thought leadership materials to deliver on those policy goals
Leading Mastercard's engagement with regulatory standards setting bodies (e.g. FSB, CPMI, BCBS) on cyber/fraud/data related issues, and collaborating with Mastercard's Industry Standards team on engagement with key technical standards organizations & processes
Collaborating with Mastercard's regional Government Affairs teams to shape local cyber/fraud/data policy by driving the development of consultative responses, participating in the development of policy engagement strategies, and providing subject matter expert support for meetings with key stakeholders
Collaborating with Mastercard's Multilateral Institutions team to support their delivery of key policy narratives via direct engagement, participation in working groups, and the amplification of Mastercard's policy messaging by our senior executives
About You
Demonstrated expertise in the areas of cyber-security, fraud, privacy enhancing technologies, data protection, and privacy with a particular focus on the financial sector.
Experience gathering inputs from across the domains of technology, operations, regulatory/compliance, and strategy to synthesize a set of logical and compelling policy narratives that to support an organization's strategic objectives
A robust understanding of the key issues and stakeholders animating policy and regulatory debates around cyber security, operational resilience, fraud, AI, and critical infrastructure
A demonstrated capacity to ‘think like a policymaker', placing yourself in mindset of legislators, regulators, and standards setters to understand their underlying motivations and policy objectives
A demonstrated history of building strong working relationships with policy SMEs within the public sector (legislative, administrative, and regulatory) by serving as a trusted SME and source of private sector insights
Experience working across cross functional teams and disciplines, preferably with demonstrated experience working in a role with a global remit
The ability to analyze and manage complex issues, analyzing them from a range of perspectives, setting clear objectives, and working collaboratively with teammates towards a shared goal
