Type: Full Time Salaried

Compensation: $134,000 - $202,000 (Target Salary)

Location: Fully Remote, must be in the United States

Hours: Full Time Days

What to Expect:

 

The Director, Vendor Management is responsible for building, leading, and optimizing the enterprise-wide vendor governance and contract management strategy. This role ensures that third-party vendors meet contractual obligations, comply with regulations, and align with the organization's strategic, operational, and risk management goals. The Director will oversee vendor performance, mitigate financial and reputational risks, draft and negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with evolving legal and regulatory requirements. This position will lead cross-functional collaboration with Clinical, Operations, Legal, Compliance, IT, and Finance teams to optimize vendor performance and accountability.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Vendor Governance & Contract Management:

  • Design, implement, and manage the vendor governance framework, including policies, standards, operating procedures, and escalation processes.
  • Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of vendor contracts and agreements, ensuring they meet organizational standards and legal requirements.
  • Stay current with legal and regulatory changes to ensure contracts remain compliant, collaborating with Legal, Finance, and Compliance teams.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance contract management practices and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee vendor audit readiness and respond to regulatory reviews related to third-party risk.

Vendor Performance & Risk Management:

  • Oversee vendor performance evaluations, ensuring compliance with SLAs, KPIs, risk metrics, and contract terms.
  • Develop and maintain vendor scorecards, performance dashboards, and reporting tools to track compliance and risk exposure.
  • Lead regular vendor performance monitoring and governance meetings with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to financial exposure, reputational damage, and legal non-compliance.
  • Implement robust risk management frameworks and proactively address vendor performance issues.

Leadership & Relationship Management:

  • Lead the Sourcing team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex vendor-related issues and contract disputes.
  • Lead regular executive-level strategic vendor review meetings and steering committees.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors to foster collaboration and transparency.
  • Present vendor performance insights and risk assessments to executive leadership, recommending strategic actions.

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor vendor efficiency, contract adherence, and service delivery.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on vendor performance, risk exposure, cost optimization, and compliance posture.
  • Develop and present analytics reports and dashboards to track vendor performance, compliance, and risk exposure.
  • Document contract amendments, renewals, terminations, and maintain accurate records.

Process Improvement & Best Practices:

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance vendor management processes, adopting best practices to streamline contract administration.
  • Train internal stakeholders on contract compliance, vendor management policies, and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Drive continuous improvement of vendor governance tools, processes, and systems.

Qualifications

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Law, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in vendor management, contract administration, procurement, or a related area, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing complex vendor contracts.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of contract law, compliance regulations, and risk management strategies.
  • Proficiency in contract lifecycle management (CLM) software and vendor management tools.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic vendor relationships.
  • Ability to develop and implement performance metrics, track vendor data, and present findings to leadership.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
