Corporate Strategy Analyst III

The Corporate Strategy team works closely with senior leaders across the organization to define the long-term direction of Medical Mutual. The team leads three efforts: strategy development, strategy management, and strategic initiatives. Each team member is involved in multiple projects and relies on each other to be action oriented and contribute diverse perspectives to solving complex problems.

 

The analyst produces action-oriented insights, conducts comprehensive analyses, and delivers actionable recommendations to Corporate Strategy leadership. The person is assigned a portfolio of business lines and functional areas and interacts with the respective business partners. The analyst's work assignments are directed by the Manager of Corporate Strategy. Work requires critical thinking, motivation to learn, and a proactive approach to problem solving.

 

Sr. Corporate Strategy Analyst

Assists in developing Medical Mutual's multi-year strategic plan, supporting internal initiatives, and ensuring the organization's continued growth and success in the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.  Works on a variety of strategic and high visibility projects. Partners with functional leaders across the organization to identify strategic opportunities and answer key strategic questions. Provides valuable insights, conducts comprehensive analyses, and delivers actionable recommendations to senior leadership.

Lead Corporate Strategy Analyst

The Corporate Strategy team works closely with senior leaders across the organization to define the long-term strategic direction of Medical Mutual. The team leads three efforts: strategy development, strategy management, and strategic initiatives. Each team member is involved in multiple projects and relies on each other to be action oriented and contribute diverse perspectives to solving complex problems.

 

The Lead Analyst is responsible for one or more workstreams and provides guidance to other Analysts. The Lead Analyst produces action-oriented insights, conducts comprehensive analyses, and delivers recommendations to Corporate Strategy leadership and other cross-functional partners. Is assigned a portfolio of business lines and functional areas, and partners with respective business leads to identify strategic opportunities, activate strategies, and measure progress against plan. The Lead Analyst's work assignments are directed by the Manager of Corporate Strategy. Work requires critical thinking, motivation to learn, and proactive approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

Corporate Strategy Analyst III

Strategic Planning

  • Support the end-to-end strategic planning process with Corporate Strategy leadership.
  • Partner with Competitive and Market Intelligence team to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Perform data analysis (e.g. financial statements, operational metrics, market dynamics, and consumer demographics) to inform defining strategic options and recommendations.
  • Prepare materials for executive and senior management discussions.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Support the ongoing activation of the company's multi-year strategic plan, by participating in strategic initiatives and projects to enable the company's growth and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Work may include data analysis, problem solving, hypothesis testing, recommendation assessment, and roadmap sequencing.

Strategy Management

  • Proactively monitor industry trends, emerging entrants, new technology innovation, and healthcare policies to assess their impact on the company's strategic direction.
  • Actively participate in discussions with business partners to review progress against strategic plan.
  • Support engagements with internal functions (e.g., PMO, Financial, HR) to monitor and evaluate the performance of strategic initiatives, measure key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Perform analysis to generate insights on recommendations for corrective actions or new growth ideas.

Project Management

  • Employ sound project management methodologies and process to drive key projects and activities from incubation to final deliverables.
  • Work cross-functionally to advance the achievement of deadlines, milestones, and commitments.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare materials for executive, senior management, and Corporate Strategy team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Sr. Corporate Strategy Analyst

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Support the development of key elements of Medical Mutual's strategy. Conduct comprehensive market and industry analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks. Collaborate with Corporate Strategy leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure effective alignment and implementation of strategic plans, monitoring progress, and making strategic adjustments as needed. Prepare materials for executive and senior management. 

Corporate Initiatives:

  • Support the ongoing activation of MedMutual Next, the company's multi-year strategic plan, by participating in strategic initiatives and projects to enable the company's growth and enhance operational efficiency.  Prepare and present comprehensive reports and executive-level summaries to communicate progress of our multi-year strategy.

Ad-Hoc Strategy Development:

  • Perform in-depth analysis of internal and external data, including financial statements, operational metrics, market dynamics, and consumer demographics, among other to help development targeted strategies that advance the goals of the enterprise as well as individual lines of business. 

Strategy Management:

  • Proactively monitor industry trends, emerging entrants, new technology innovation, and healthcare policies to assess their impact on the company's strategic direction. Support engagements with internal functions (e.g., PMO, Financial, HR) to monitor and evaluate the performance of strategic initiatives, measure key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular reports and recommendations to senior leadership. 

Project Management:

  • Partner with Corporate Strategy leadership and internal stakeholders on key strategic projects. Employ sound project management methodologies and process to drive key projects and activities from incubation to final deliverables. Work cross-functionally to advance the achievement of deadlines, milestones, and commitments. Ensure projects are completed on time and deadlines are met. Prepare materials for executive, senior management, and Corporate Strategy team. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Lead Corporate Strategy Analyst

  • Lead workstreams in strategic planning process and supports end-to-end process with Corporate Strategy leadership.
  • Partner with Competitive and Market Intelligence team to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Generate insights from data analysis (e.g. financial statements, operational metrics, market dynamics, and consumer demographics) to inform defining strategic options and recommendations.
  • Guide preparation of materials for executive and senior management discussions.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Define and manage a workstream or project that is part of ongoing activation of the company's multi-year strategic plan.
  • Project examples include new market entry analysis, functional strategy development, operational or medical cost optimization.
  • Work may include presenting leading meetings, data analysis, problem solving, hypothesis testing, recommendation assessment, and roadmap sequencing.

Strategy Management

  • Support engagements with internal functions (e.g., PMO and Finance) to monitor and evaluate progress against strategic plan and provide regular reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead discussions with business partners to review progress against strategic plan.
  • Performs and directs analysis to generate insights on recommendations for corrective actions or new growth ideas.
  • Proactively monitor industry trends, emerging entrants, new technology innovation, and healthcare policies to assess their impact on the company's strategic direction and strategic plans.

Project and Leadership Management

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and feedback for analysts and senior analysts.
  • Employ sound project management methodologies.
  • Develop relationships with key cross-functional partners to influence without direct authority.

Corporate Strategy Analyst III

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, Finance, Economics, or a related field with 2 years of experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, strategy or management consulting, investment banking, business analysis, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • 3 years of experience conducting analysis on quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 3 years of experience engaging in complex problem solving.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make strategic recommendations.
  • Ability to conduct market analysis, develop actionable recommendations, and create execution roadmaps.   
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry, with primary focus on health plans (payers), providers, pharmacy services, healthtech, and medtech
  • Advanced communications and presentation skills, including use of Microsoft products (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project Management, Teams).
  • Skilled at using analytical and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong financial modeling, budgeting, analysis skills 

Sr. Corporate Strategy Analyst

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, Finance, Economics, or a related field with 5 years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, or investment banking, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, JD, MHA)
  • Ability to conduct market analysis, develop actionable recommendations, and create execution roadmaps.   
  • Experience supporting strategy development and strategic planning process.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make strategic recommendations.
  • Ability to conduct market analysis, develop actionable recommendations, and create execution roadmaps.   
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare industry, with primary focus on health plans (payers), providers, pharmacy services, healthtech, and medtech
  • Advanced communications and presentation skills, including superior use of Microsoft products (e.g., Power Point, Excel, Word, Project Management, Teams).
