General Summary of Position
Coordinates the CIC program at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and assists with the accreditation process (MIEMSS MHCC) and other accrediting bodies. Responsible for the management of the Accredited Cardiac Interventional Program focusing on data management and analysis quality measures and outcomes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicates with leaders by proactively addressing patient issues and addressing cardiac performance measures. Teaches nursing staff and others regarding cardiac patient management.
- Contributes to the achievement of department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Responsible for the coordination and achievement of the Cardiac Performance Measurements.
- Leads the hospital Cardiac Quality and Performance Committee Meeting and participates as needed in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Represents the hospital at MIEMSS Cardiac Meetings and other community events as appropriate.
- Maintains current clinical competency and current up to date evidence-based knowledge regarding cardiac patient care. Responsible for review and updating cardiac critical pathways/protocols and teaching in accordance with evidenced based practices.
- Monitors performance of cardiac program. Works closely with clinical leadership to coordinate initiatives to promote compliance with regulatory requirements including MIEMSS and MHCC.
- Performs clinical data collection and analysis in relation to patient outcome and clinical process projects studies and reporting. Uploads data to NCDR ARMUS software and GWTG monthly
- Participates in meetings and on committee and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree Nursing required
- Master's degree Nursing preferred
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience
- 3-4 years Nursing: Background in Cardiology and Cardiac Procedural Nursing required
- 1-2 years Experience in education and/or clinical program development preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Upon Hire required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification Upon Hire preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and Power Point and SMS software applications.
- Ability to read write and speak or communicate in English and to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills with patients coworkers and others demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior that supports the MedStar SPIRIT Values mission and compliance with all federal state and regulatory laws
- Communicates with regulatory agencies regarding pre-submission strategies potential regulatory pathways compliance test requirements or clarification and follow-up of submissions under review.
- Ability to engage with diverse patients and families in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software MS Outlook and EMR applications.
This position has a hiring range of
USD $89,065.00 - USD $148,012.00 /Yr.
