About the Role
In the Nurse Navigator role, you will serve as the central point of contact for patients referred for radiation therapy- coordinating care from diagnosis through survivorship, partnering with multidisciplinary clinical teams and supporting clinical outcomes – while enjoying the flexibility of one remote workday each week.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday, Days with one day remote
Key responsibilities include
- Coordinate intake, assessment, triage, and navigation for patients referred for radiation therapy
- Serve as a liaison for referring physicians and internal clinical teams
- Facilitate patient evaluations by coordinating services across Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiology, and other MGUH departments
- Guide patients and caregivers through diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical trials, and survivorship
- Educate patients and families on treatment options, procedures, resources, and support services
- Identify and support appropriate patient participation in clinical trials, including informed consent and specimen coordination
- Communicate patient progress and care plans to interdisciplinary care teams
- Participate in Oncology Tumor Boards and support outcomes data collection
- Assist with regulatory and IRB communications as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Active DC RN license and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross)
- 3–4 years of clinical nursing experience
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Experience in oncology care settings (surgical, inpatient, outpatient, or community oncology)
- Familiarity with clinical trials, patient education, and care coordination
