About the Job

At MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, a nationally recognized academic medical center is seeking a Nurse Navigator for our Radiation Oncology program. About the Role

In the Nurse Navigator role, you will serve as the central point of contact for patients referred for radiation therapy- coordinating care from diagnosis through survivorship, partnering with multidisciplinary clinical teams and supporting clinical outcomes – while enjoying the flexibility of one remote workday each week.

 

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, Days with one day remote 

 

Key responsibilities include

  • Coordinate intake, assessment, triage, and navigation for patients referred for radiation therapy 
  • Serve as a liaison for referring physicians and internal clinical teams 
  • Facilitate patient evaluations by coordinating services across Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiology, and other MGUH departments 
  • Guide patients and caregivers through diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical trials, and survivorship 
  • Educate patients and families on treatment options, procedures, resources, and support services 
  • Identify and support appropriate patient participation in clinical trials, including informed consent and specimen coordination 
  • Communicate patient progress and care plans to interdisciplinary care teams 
  • Participate in Oncology Tumor Boards and support outcomes data collection 
  • Assist with regulatory and IRB communications as needed 

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing 
  • Active DC RN license and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • 3–4 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines 

 

Preferred: 

 

  • Master's degree in Nursing 
  • Experience in oncology care settings (surgical, inpatient, outpatient, or community oncology) 
  • Familiarity with clinical trials, patient education, and care coordination

USD $89,065.00 - USD $162,801.00 /Yr.
