General Summary of Position
The individual in this position is a staff member who participates in and facilitates the management of the operational and personnel activities of the Morgue/autopsy section of the Anatomic Pathology department. Assists in instruction of medical residents, orders and manages all supplies. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Medstar Washington Hospital Centers philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Working hours for this role is 4am - 12:30pm, Monday - Friday.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required and
- Two years of College completed in mortuary science, forensic science, anatomy and physiology, histology, or biology. required
- Bachelor's degree in mortuary science, forensic science, anatomy and physilogy, histology, or biology. preferred
Experience
- 1-2 years required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires the ability to read and write; and knowledge of grammar, and arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
- May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e., personal computer, data terminal, on-line printer, calculator, telephone, facsimile, copier, sterilizing equipment, blood pressure cuff, or tables); the preparation, comparison or checking of reports, records and related data; and basic use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings and knowledge of their application.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, in instrumentation and legal aspect of consent for performing autopsies.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Mature individual able to be empathetic to the needs of bereaved famiies/signficant others.
This position has a hiring range of $26.865 - $40.553
