MedStar Health is currently seeking a Chief Therapist, Radiation Medicine to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. This position oversees the management and supervision of staff in clinical treatment areas such as External Beam Radiation therapy, Simulation, CyberKnife, and Proton therapy programs.
As a Chief Therapist, you will ensure high quality and efficient patient care by enforcing established departmental and hospital policies and procedures. You will supervise, coordinate, and mentor the delivery of patient care for all patient treatment areas and actively support and promote a professional model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards.

Primary Duties:
Serve as the patient advocate ensuring optimal patient care and optimal satisfaction. Actively support and promote a professional model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical
standards. Function as a liaison between therapists, physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, administration, patients, and students, promoting harmonious relations and favorable attitudes among the health care team.
Participates in the development of the clinical areas' strategic and operational plans. Responsible for implementation and monitoring of the Quality Assurance and Safety programs for the technical area in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures and ACR and Joint Commission guidelines. Coordinates chart rounds.
Compiles and records statistical data on patients under treatment. Meets regularly with the lead therapists, staff therapists, scheduler, and therapists' assistant to communicate goals, coordinate care and receive feedback.
Meet regularly and coordinate activities with Lead Radiation Therapists of the clinical areas, External Beam/Simulation, CyberKnife and Proton Therapy to ensure effective communication and cohesive operations of the programs, the department and the organization.
Acts as liaison and Clinical Supervisor for the Howard University Radiation Therapy Technology School of Allied Health Affiliate. Evaluate and mentor staff on the clinical instruction of the Howard University Radiation Therapy Technology Students. Responsible for orientation and counseling of students during their clinical rotations. Oversees student instruction and evaluation process.
Qualifications:
Vocational/Technical Diploma – graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program. Bachelor's degree
5 – 7 years' experience as a radiation therapist, inclusive of one year previous supervisory experience
ARRT Radiology Certification. Professional ARRT certification is mandatory
