Job Summary: 

 
MedStar Health has an opportunity for a Driver/Patient Registrar to join our team at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital's Mobile Clinic.

As a Driver/Patient Registrar, you will be responsible for the safe driving of the mobile unit and the proper running and maintenance of the vehicle serving the communities surrounding Good Samaritan, Union Memorial, and Franklin Square and will provide access to care to underserved areas. Serves in a dual capacity to communicate with patients, families, physicians, quality review and insurance companies to obtain information and insurance verification to assure quality patient care and payment of accounts. Interviews and registers patients on the unit. Provides other registration, clerical and billing support as required. 

 
Primary Duties: 

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. 

  • Drives Mobile Clinic to and from clinic sessions at community-based organizations, health fairs and other events, as directed. 

  • Maintains awareness of potential risk to clients, staff and facility while clinic is in session. 

  • Performs all routine maintenance and interior cleaning services for mobile unit. 

  • Replenishes stock of clinic/medical supplies to mobile unit. 

  • Facilitates related services for health center patients as appropriate regarding their confidentiality and privacy. 

  • Completes medical supply inventory and reports items to be ordered to Clinic supervisor to order. 

  • Prepares clinic and laboratory areas with appropriate supplies prior to clinic sessions. Replaces and secures same at the conclusion of sessions. 

  • Maintains daily log of vehicle mileage and compressor hours. 

  • Completes driver vehicle evaluation form weekly. 

  • Maintains log of routine inspections of vehicle, daily, weekly and monthly. 

  • Conducts outreach to promote the programs offered in the mobile. 

  • Helps to secure new patients for mobile services. 

  • Confirms insurance coverage. 

  • Obtains authorizations by utilizing online electronic verification system, or other resources, such as, HDX, EVS or Blueline. 

  • Interviews patients, families, or outside sources to obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information and inputs data into system for registration, billing, and patient tracking. 

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required 

  • 2 years experience in driving a commercial vehicle preferred 

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred 

  • CDL - Group B - Commercial Drivers License Valid Commercial Driving License (CDL), Class B and airbrakes in the State of Maryland with no current points assigned to Driver's License required 

  • Drivers License - Endorsement A (Air Brakes) Valid Commercial Driving License (CDL), Class B and airbrakes in the State of Maryland with no current points assigned to Driver's License required 

  • HAZMAT Certification preferred
