General Summary of Position
Maintains and ensures data integrity of the EAD Database. Performs updates and revisions to registration and clinical systems to ensure the patient's medical record is correct.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Interfaces with registration staff and practice managers on the accuracy of patient registration, addressing questions and errors and finding solutions for the benefit of areas involved. Monitors ambulatory patient databases through consistent follow-up, striving for accuracy in the registration process for all patients.
  • Performs merges, revisions, conversions and validates the Enterprise Access Database system (EAD), Cerner and other downstream systems to eliminate duplicate patient accounts and Medical Record Number Accounts.
  • Audits and processes daily Potential Duplicate Medical Record Number Report.
  • Resolves overlays by tracking and analyzing discrepancies related to patient account numbers, separate patient visits, and duplicate account registration.
  • Manages duplicates related to digital transformation initiatives, acquisitions and special projects.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred

    Experience

    • 1-2 years 2 years of health information management experience with prior knowledge of duplicate record and overlay resolution. required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • basic computer skills required;
    • database management and application knowledge related to registration activities preferred.
