General Summary of Position
Configures Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) environment (Project, Project Server, Project Portfolio Server, and SharePoint. Administers and maintains the EPM environment. Develops custom SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports. Provides EPM environment and tool training and supports the use of these tools. Develops and maintains Project Management Office (PMO) pages within SharePoint. Assists project teams in creating SharePoint project sites. Contributes to MedStar Health project teams in project management activities. Assists in the development of and maintains methodology and templates. Drafts procedures for all administrative and maintenance functions. May support project managers on large, complex, enterprise-wide projects and programs; may have responsibility for project task management; and, may lead small (departmental or entity-specific) projects.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Assists with project scheduling and project management tools across the IS organization. Provides all project management tool training.
  • Provides all configuration and administration of the Enterprise Project Management (Project Server, Project Portfolio Management, and SharePoint) environment. Takes ownership of the environment, maintains full functionality, and continuously updates and refreshes content.
  • Responsible for building custom reports and automation of the Enterprise Project Management environment.
  • Coaches, educates, and trains project managers and team members with the use of project management tools.
  • Provides PMO administration support, such as data mining and analysis, reporting, and issue and risk resolution.
  • Provides project coordination support to large-scale project and programs. Assists in the development of project management related documentation, and setup and use of project management tools.
  • Provides project management support and expertise for monitored engagements. Demonstrates the ability to add measurable value to information system implementation initiatives. Exhibits a practical understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Serves as the backup to the PMO Tools Administrator. Performs routine break/fix and service requests.
  • Works with customers in documenting project requests, requirements, and business cases.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, required or
    • Health Administration, required or
    • a combination of equivalent technical experience and education. required

    Experience

    • 1-2 years Related experience in an it organization or PMO. required and
    • Understanding of project management and project controls and scheduling concepts and competencies. ability to coach, mentor, and transfer knowledge to project managers and team members. working knowledge of the 2007 versions of microsoft project server, project portfolio server, sharepoint, and SSRS. demonstrated experience configuring microsoft project server and project portfolio server based on organizational requirements. Experience using full capabilities of microsoft project server at the collaboration and resource pooling levels. experience using full capabilities of microsoft project server at the collaboration and resource pooling levels.working knowledge of administering microsoft windows sharepoint services. Working knowledge of microsoft SQL server and ssrs, as related to a microsoft project server and project portfolio server, and ability to develop complex, conditional ssrs reports. practical understanding of microsoft architectures, including windows server, IIS, and exchange, as related to a microsoft project server and project portfolio server. experience creating portfolios of projects based on organizational needs and reporting status at that level. required and
    • Microsoft visual basic script experience. experience with microsoft sql reporting services and developing reports using olap preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Microsoft Certified Professional related to Project Server 2007 and Project Portfolio Server 2007 preferred

    This position has a hiring range of $80,995 - $152,027
