General Summary of Position
The entry-level Research Assistant supports research projects within the MedStar Health Research Institute by assisting with basic data collection, analysis, and general administrative tasks. Provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the field of research while contributing to ongoing studies in clinical and/or health services research. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and demonstrates strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with collecting, organizing, and maintaining research data.
  • Performs basic data entry and data management tasks.
  • Prepares materials for research studies, including questionnaires and surveys.
  • Assists with the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Coordinates meetings, schedules, and communications for research teams.
  • Participates in research meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Adheres to ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements for research activities.
  • Maintains research documentation and ensure proper filing and record-keeping.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required ; Associate's degree preferred
    • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

    Experience

    • Prior work experience not required. Experience in health care setting preferred
    • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Technical Skills: Basic data entry, familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and willingness to learn new research tools and software.
    • Knowledge: Basic understanding of research principles and ethics, especially in clinical and/or health services research.
    • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in data collection, entry, and documentation.
    • Organization: Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and preparing reports.
    • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and take on new tasks, especially when exposed to new research methodologies or systems.
    • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with researchers and staff to contribute to research goals.


    This position has a hiring range of $18.33 - $31.61
