General Summary of Position
Assists in the direction of the operational, personnel and financial activities of the supply chain management departments in an entity with more than $90M in annual medical supply related expense. These functions are coordinated with the Director, Supply Chain Management, Hospital Administration, Department Heads,Medical Staff and others and are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, policies,procedures and standards.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assists in the direction, planning, implementation and coordination all activities of Supply Chain functions (Receiving, Distribution, Central Stores, Inventory Control).
  • Assists with appraising, forecasting and determining desired set of future conditions and strategies required to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization within Incumbent's area of expertise.
  • Assists with developing and implementing systems that support the needs, goals, and objectives of entity and coordinates the implementation and management of the various Supply Chain Management computer systems.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this position and are not to be considered as all inclusive.
  • Assumes responsibility (directly or through delegation to other staff members) for personnel management of the Department to include but not limited to: interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluation, promotion and terminating employees, as assigned by the Department Head.
  • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards.
  • Exemplifies Guest and Staff relations standards and holds departmental staff accountable for conformity with the standards in all activities.
  • Participates as a member of committees and task forces to support Supply Chain functions in the Hospital, as assigned by the Department Head.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides assistance in monitoring and managing Supply Chain computer systems reports consistent with financial guidelines.
  • Provides assistance with reviewing departmental statistical, inventory, revenue, expense and exception reports and recommends and delegates corrective action where needed.
  • Serves as a resource in developing and implementing educational programs for department employees in all areas of Supply Chain to develop their technical and management skills.

    Minimal Qualifications
    Education

    • B.S. degree in Business Administration, Health Care Management required or
    • B.A. degree in Business Administration, Health Care Management required or
    • related field. required

    Experience

    • 5-7 years Progressive experience in hospital materials management, inclusive of several years at the managerial level required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • CMRP - Certified Materials & Resource Professional Certification as a Certified Health Care Materials Manager (CPHM) required or
    • Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M) Certified Hospital Purchasing Manager (CHPM) preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of computerized inventory control systems, contract management, storeroom management, hospital purchasing and personnel administration.
    • Must have demonstrated the ability to administer a large service department in a hospital setting;
    • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills; Proven leadership of large diverse work groups;
    • Must be able to function well under stress.
    • Ability to effectively interact with many disciplines at all levels of the organization.
    • Must be highly organized.
    • Must be proficient in office software such as Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
    • Must be able to develop proficiency with Supply Chain Information Systems such as, but not limited to, PeopleSoft , Pyxisand Invision.


    This position has a hiring range of $95,014 - $182,124
