The Clinical Nurse Educator serves as a vital resource for Mercy coworkers, supporting orientation, competency programs, in-service education, continuing education, academic partnerships, career development, and role transition at the unit level. This role ensures that educational initiatives align with Mercy's mission, Nursing Professional Practice Model, and strategic goals. Position Details:
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver onboarding and competency programs using evidence-based practices.
Create orientation and ongoing education plans for licensed and unlicensed staff.
Foster a positive learning environment and utilize diverse teaching strategies (simulation, mock events, case scenarios).
Partner with leadership and academic institutions to support education initiatives.
Serve as mentor, resource, and role model promoting excellence and safety.
Maintain proficiency in unit-specific skills, EMR systems, and technology tools.
Ensure compliance with Mercy policies and assist with drills and education on knowledge gaps.
Qualifications
Required:
BSN with 2 years clinical experience OR ADN with 10 years hospital nursing experience (or 5 years with active RN-to-BSN enrollment).
Current RN license and AHA BLS certification.
Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
Specialty certification or progress toward certification.
2 years teaching experience.
Additional life support certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.).
