Demonstrates proficiency in all technical positions. Takes responsibility of routine operations when supervisor is not on duty. Ensures tasks for all positions are completed as scheduled when manager is not available. Direct the efforts of others. Makes staffing adjustments to cover open positions. Assists supervisors with scheduling, task assignments, and special projects. Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Safety/Risk Management
a. Follows policy and procedures for incident report.
b. Follows confidentiality policies and procedures.
c. Complies with infection control guidelines.
d. Knows MSDS book use and location.
e. Adheres to hospital wide and specific department safety regulations, including, but not limited to:
-Fire and tornado
-Environmental safety
f. Complies with patient rights and regulations.
Coordination of Services
a. Participates in department QI program.
b. Prioritizes appropriately and utilizes good judgment in use of time.
c. Accepts delegation of tasks.
d. Assists in orientation of new staff.
e. Engages in professional, courteous interaction with peers, patients, guests and other personnel.
Complex Aspects
a. Understands the interpretation of the menus.
b. Understands the diets (regular and modified).
c. Demonstrates proficiency in cash handling
d. Demonstrates knowledge of budgets and scheduling
e. Issues and records issued chemical and supplies
f. Assists supervisor in adjusting of par levels as needed
Primary Aspects
a. Monitor inventory and order food and supplies following cycle menus. Makes substitute if vendor is short on delivery.
b. Ensures cleaning schedules are followed, supplies are stocked properly and put away in stock designated areas.
f. Demonstrates correct money handling skills.
g. Demonstrates proper food and equipment temperature taking and record keeping per procedure.
h. Demonstrates lead role on daily basis and is good role model.
i. Performs other work duties as assigned.

c. Consistently uses proper telephone management techniques.

a. Maintains working knowledge of use of computer and printer.

Licensure: None
Certifications: Food Handlers within 90 days of hire
Other: Must be able to follow written directions and interpret selected menus. Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and lead others to accomplish objectives set by area supervisor without direct supervision of work shift. The physical demands described here are the representative of the minimums that must be met by an employee to perform all essential functions of the job.
Most physical demands are below, plus:
Minimal: kneeling or crouching, lifting up to 40 lbs, carrying of <35 lbs (2 handed)
Preferred Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Experience: 90 days experience in hospital food service.
