Overview:

The Medication Access Program (MAP) Assistant is responsible for investigating available resources, generating and submitting applications to pharmaceutical companies prescription assistance programs, and finding the best solutions for patients who need prescription medications, but who cannot afford them. CMAP is a community-wide program serving patients of Mercy Clinic, MSU Care Clinic and Jordan Valley Community Health Center. This individual regularly interacts with patients, medical providers, leaders of partner organizations, nurses, Social Workers, pharmacists, case managers and over 30 different pharmaceutical assistance programs. The focus of the position is to use software and specialized knowledge of available resources to identify appropriate drug assistance programs and evaluate information to determine the patients eligibility for identified programs. The incumbent must be capable of working within specified parameters but must be able to think critically and act independently to accomplish the responsibilities of this position. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values and Mercy Service Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in health care preferred, particularly that which involved use of medical and/or pharmaceutical terminology.
  • Required Education: High school diploma required
  • Other: Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are vital. Must have exceptional ability to work in an organized manner and attend to detail in processes of communications and information documentation. Must be able to effectively interact with and demonstrate sensitivity to the elderly and to diverse populations, including those who are educationally and economically challenged. Good familiarity with medical terminology and drug names is very important. There is a strong emphasis on the ability to be a productive team member.
