Position: Monitor Technician
Department: Telemetry
Hours / Shift: Part-Time Nights, 24hr/week, 7pm-7am
Overview:
The Monitor Tech is responsible for surveillance of patient cardiac monitors, providing nurses and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern and prior variances.
Job Duties:
- Maintaining high-level surveillance of patient's cardiac rhythms.
- Communicates with nursing/clinician team of any rate or rhythm changes.
- Measures and interprets patients heart rhythm and documents on patient record.
- Initiates and discontinues monitoring on notification of admission, transfer, or discharge from the bedside clinician.
- Performs clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. and/or current Mercy coworker. Monitor tech course completion and/or passing score of 85% on monitor tech competency exam during orientation period.
- Experience: None required.
- Other: Basic computer skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is essential. Excellent communication skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure is a must.
