NICU Nurse Manager – Level IV
Location: Mercy Hospital
Schedule: Full-Time | 24/7 Department Oversight
Mercy Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced NICU Nurse Manager – Level IV to lead our high-acuity neonatal intensive care unit. This leadership role is responsible for managing the delivery of nursing care to a specialized patient population, ensuring exceptional clinical outcomes, and fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and compassion.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategic Direction:
- Develop and implement departmental vision and goals aligned with Mercy's mission and strategic plan.
- Promote coworker engagement, patient satisfaction, and physician collaboration.
- Facilitate participation in Shared Leadership Councils, daily huddles, and organizational initiatives.
Operational Management:
- Maintain 24-hour accountability for NICU operations.
- Oversee staffing plans, patient placement, and resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with care delivery standards and safety protocols.
Quality & Performance Improvement:
- Lead initiatives to improve clinical outcomes and patient safety.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement evidence-based practices.
- Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction and adherence to national safety goals.
Human Resource Leadership:
- Hire, train, and retain top nursing talent using Mercy's “Hiring for Fit” tools.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development.
- Maintain competency standards and continuing education for all staff.
Technology & Communication:
- Leverage information systems to enhance care delivery and operational efficiency.
- Foster effective communication across departments and disciplines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred.
- Current RN license or temporary permit in the State of Missouri.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience required.
- NICU or neonatal experience strongly preferred.
- Relevant nursing leadership certification required.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and use of healthcare information systems.
