Overview
The Shift Supervisor, Laboratory Technical is a leader and part of the provider care team who helps with diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions through the use of technical and scientific knowledge. This position is responsible for accurate, precise, and timely performance of routine and complex laboratory tests, including those requiring independent judgment. Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Scientists evaluate and report test results while assuring compliance and meeting all regulatory requirements consistent with the quality of a World Class Laboratory. This position will be required to perform Human Resources functions, which may include scheduling,job performance reviews, and coworker counseling and disciplinary action. The Laboratory Supervisor will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with Mercy Signature Service in all internal and external customer interactions. Mercy Leaders are required to exhibit Mercy Leadership Attributes.

 

 

QualificationsEducation: Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or related science and meets the qualifications of Mercy Lab MTI or higher job descriptionLicensure: Experience: Minimum of four (4) years acceptable clinical laboratory experience as a certified MT/MLS or with a bachelors degree in a major that meets a certification agencys requirement or with successful completion of a 50 week U.S. military medical laboratory training courseCertifications: Current certification by a national certification agency as medical technologist/medical laboratory scientist or categorical MT/MLS. b.If ASCP certification was achieved after January 1, 2004, continuing certification maintenance must be documented to insure continuous and current certificationOr1.Bachelors degree, in a major that meets a certification agencys requirements, plus four years of acceptable clinical laboratory experienceOr2.Completion of a 50 week U.S. military medical laboratory training course and three years acceptable clinical laboratory experienceOther: Skills, knowledge and abilities: A) Able to demonstrate concise, effective verbal and written communication skills; B) Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment; C)_Displays solid organizational skills, is able to effectively prioritize work and possesses the flexibility to work with a variety of coworkers; D) Exercises sound judgment and possesses excellent decision-making skills;E) Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule to accommodate needs of Laboratory such as working overtime, weekends, and/or adjusting regularly scheduled days.
