Job Description:

Under the leadership of the Director of Clinical Services, the Assistant Director of Clinical Services will oversee the day-to-day operations, administration, and clinical care provided to adolescents and their families at Ohana's higher level of care (HLOC) including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Residential Program. This position will support the Community Hospital's strategic plan, quality commitment, and values while ensuring compliance with hospital policies/procedures and applicable federal and state laws and standards to maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Oversight

The Assistant Director will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the development and implementation of daily clinical programming in Ohana's residential and structured outpatient settings. This includes 7 days per week of residential care and 5 days per week of PHP/IOP programming. The Ohana higher level of care group- based programming is predominately CBT/DBT - based modalities and incorporates music and art therapy groups, occupational therapy, multifamily groups, and other recreational activities promoting needs of adolescents with behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs. Additionally, The Assistant Director will oversee coordination and clinical oversight of transitions of care between higher level of care programs. Additionally, this role will involve a level of fiscal responsibility including oversight of program billing compliance and oversight of program expenses.

Staff Management

The Assistant Director will support hiring, training, and supervision of licensed and unlicensed therapists, care managers and behavioral support staff who will be providing direct patient care to adolescents and their families 7 days per week. The Assistant director will be responsible for providing performance reviews and ongoing professional development opportunities across the HLOC at Ohana. The Assistant Director will support in developing and mentoring a high-performing team through an overarching focus on the creation of a work environment that is rigorous, collaborative, transparent, open, consistently fair, engaging, and fully committed to the dignity and well-being of our patients, their families, and one another.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

The Assistant Director will ensure that Ohana programs adhere to all federal and state licensing, legal and regulatory requirements, will develop and implement needed policies and procedures to remain in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, the Assistant Director will support the implementation of quality assurance measures to continually improve the delivery of quality of services, participate in compliance reviews and ensure competency of staff.

Crisis and Milieu Management

The Assistant Director will oversee and respond to crisis and milieu issues, ensuring the safety of all patients and staff, and conduct debriefings and adjustment to policies as necessary. The role requires working in structured outpatient and residential facility settings, which may involve direct interaction with adolescents and their families with significant and emotional challenges. This position may require availability for emergency situations including evenings or weekends to oversee program activities, ensure staff support and appropriate coverage plan of services.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

The Assistant Director will maintain accurate records and utilize Ohana's aggregated data reports on program metrics, challenges, and achievements, reporting outcome data to Ohana's executive leadership. Will support staff efforts to refine and evolve program offerings based on feedback, research and observed outcomes to meet evolving needs of patients and their families.

Desired Skills

This role requires a high level of executive functioning and interpersonal skills to manage staffing needs including hiring, scheduling, performance review, staff development, and remediation, in accordance with human resource policies, as well as analytical skills to solve problems, make decisions, and develop systems for effective workflow and financial viability. The Assistant Director will provide a timely and appropriate resolution to the patient, family, personnel, and organizational concerns and complaints, in compliance with policy and procedures.

The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with Ohana executive leadership regarding strategic planning, quality improvement, regulatory, and compliance requirements to ensure development and expansion of Ohana's acute level of care programming. A high level of autonomy in the performance of the role and problem-solving is expected, however, cooperation and collaboration is equally essential for successful functioning. A high degree of flexibility is expected as this role might perform additional projects, tasks, or functions as assigned by leadership. Must have strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, curiosity, high energy, humor, and humility. Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in child and adolescent behavioral healthcare is required.
  • Experience in a Residential, Partial Hospital, Intensive Outpatient or inpatient setting is preferred.
  • Experience providing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is preferred.
  • Strong communication and crisis intervention skills are required.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, show an attention to detail and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver innovative programming preferred; Skilled at presenting complex information in an understandable fashion. Ability to work across disciplines to support collaboration, decision-making and effective provision of services.
  •  Knowledge of California laws and regulations pertaining to pediatric behavioral healthcare is a plus.
  • Knowledge of or experience with the local systems that also provide behavioral health services to children, adolescents and families is preferred.

Education

Master's degree or higher in clinical child or adolescent behavioral health (Marriage and Family Therapy or Social Work) is required.

Licensure/Certifications

LCSW, LMFT, PhD, Psy D

Live Scan fingerprint clearance required by the Department of Healthcare Services is a job requirement.
