Job Description:

Position Summary:   

Under the direction of the Supervisor and/or Lead/Charge, the Patient Equipment Technician (PET) is responsible for ensuring thorough cleanliness, disinfection, and maintenance of par levels of patient care equipment and delivery to requesting departments in a timely manner. Duties include but are not necessarily limited to: following all policies and procedures, rounding of all patient care units, cleaning and maintaining par levels of equipment, responding to ROVER/VOCERA requests, retrieving contaminated instrumentation and taking it to the decontamination area in SPD, reporting of broken equipment or preventative maintenance with outside vendors, and transport of carts to surgical and patient care units.

Specific Job Competencies: 

Demonstrates knowledge of instruction for use (IFU's) required for cleaning and disinfection of patient care equipment. Demonstrate appropriate donning and doffing of PPE. Demonstrates proper use and testing of low level disinfectant solutions as well of locations of SDS information. Can operate and respond accordingly of Rover and VOCERA communication methods Rounding of all patient care units while maintaining an accurate cleaning log and proper par levels specific to unit. Maintains noise level to a minimum, all cleaning is to be done inside the dirty utility rooms and placed in the transport cart or clean utility room once cleaned. Picks up and transports soiled instrumentation to SPD for processing in a timely manner. Assists in transport of case carts to surgical areas.

Experience:

Previous healthcare experience such as: Orderly, EVS Aide, Central/Sterile Processing Technician, Transport, or equivalent work experience in related field is preferred.

Education:

High school diploma, G.E.D.

Assigned Work Hours:

Per Diem - scheduled as needed

Variable 8 hour shifts including weekdays and weekends. Shifts are 6:00 AM-2:3 PM; 9:00 AM-5:30 PM; 10:00 AM-6:30 PM; and 2:00 PM-10:30 PM

Position Type:

Per Diem

Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience):

$37.10

to

$49.65

The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.

Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $2.03 Hourly Night Shift Differential: $3.04
