IMSA seeks a talented professional to join us in the position of Part Time Race Official, Race Control.
The primary responsibility for this position is to participate as a race control operating official as procedures dictates to assure compliance with specified series guidelines for competitors. Other responsibilities include directing competitors in proper procedures for participating in race events.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Work with a team of race control officials to verify that competitors are operating in compliance with IMSA rules.
- Work one or more assigned race control station(s) for event on track operations.
- Assist in pre and post workday operations including assembly and disassembly of race control equipment.
- Maintain equipment avoiding damage and ensuring that hardware is properly stored for use at future events.
- Perform duties in a timely and authoritative manner while portraying a professional and courteous image.
- Competent understanding of radio use, procedures and etiquette.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Assist unloading and loading transporters as requested.
Other responsibilities may include:
- Handle issues appropriately in race control, garage and / or pit areas.
- Understand, communicate, and enforce IMSA' race procedure rules.
- Operate race from race control or in other locations using applicable technology.
- Maintain proficiency in and knowledge of all sporting rules and penalties.
- Implement / apply the appropriate pit road / practice / qualifying procedures / race procedures in a consistent, timely and professional manner.
- Establish and maintain proper communications with the competitors, other officials and / or facility personnel as required.
- Responsible for operating equipment (e.g., computers, radios, race control equipment) for duties assigned and for performing routine checks on same.
Required skills / experience:
- At least 1 year of related experience and/or training.
- Customer service skills.
- Professional and ability to represent company well.
- Computer skills.
- Display willingness and ability to learn new software programs created for race officiating.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and communicate effectively with teammates.
- Ability to travel 90%
