Intern - Power Electronics Controls

Position Overview: As a Power Electronics Controls Intern, you'll be involved in designing, implementing, and optimizing systems for our renewable energy products. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging engineering problems, contribute to groundbreaking projects, and make a meaningful impact in the renewable energy industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing and testing innovative control systems, power conversion, and communication systems that enable solar power plants to reliably deliver clean energy to the grid at utility scale.
  • Conduct simulations and performance analyses to validate system designs and identify areas for optimization.
  • Perform literature survey and review to explore state-of-the-art topics that fall within the scope of renewable energy ecosystem.
  • Develop novel and innovative solutions for utility scale solar plant and grid connected power conversion systems.
  • Develop proof-of-concept experiment/simulation setups for validating the proposed methodology using detailed case studies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in power electronics and control systems.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering at an accredited university in the US. Excellent senior-year master's students with relevant experience are also welcome to apply.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics principles, including converter topologies, modulation techniques, and semiconductor devices.
  • Proficiency in control theory and experience with implementing control algorithms for real-time applications.
  • Hands on experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation tools and software development for embedded systems.
  • Expertise in PCBA design is a plus.
  • Expertise in Ansys/maxwell/Icepack is a plus.

California Salary Range - $20,000
