Description

NJM's Law & Regulation department is seeking a highly motivated, professional, detail-oriented attorney to join our team. Responsibilities include providing strategic and high-quality legal advice across a wide range of complex legal matters throughout the organization. The Attorney will support NJM's Contract Management and Compliance teams as well as NJM's Corporate Counsel and General Counsel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, drafting, revising, and negotiating sophisticated agreements with vendors and other third parties, including technology-related agreements
  • Providing clear, concise, actionable guidance to colleagues and business leaders on various legal, regulatory, compliance, corporate, privacy and data protection matters
  • Acting as a strategic partner with business leaders to assist them in achieving their business objectives
  • Working cross-functionally across the company to analyze legal matters, devise creative solutions, and develop strong, trusted advisor relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience handling contracts and/or regulatory matters; prior experience with property and casualty insurance or another highly-regulated industry is a plus
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and business judgment
  • Ability to work independently on projects
  • Ability to communicate clearly and explain complicated concepts and difficult decisions to business leaders within the organization
  • Results-driven, goal-oriented mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership, make decisions, propose workable and pragmatic solutions, exert influence appropriately, and help solve problems with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously, meeting aggressive deadlines, and responding to rapidly shifting prioritizes in ambiguous or challenging situations
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to customer service
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Juris Doctorate degree required
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of New Jersey is required. Additional license to practice law in New York or Pennsylvania is a plus

The salary range for this role is $96,000– $122,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience and credentials.
