Description

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for deploying, maintaining and supporting critical NJM business applications through an established SDLC process. The DevOps Engineer will work with Developers, QA engineers and Project Managers to plan and implement changes that support business initiatives and optimize IT deliverables.  Specific responsibilities include application availability, configuration, performance, efficiency, change management, emergency response, and capacity planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support IIS, Tomcat and Java based environments and provide dedicated application support for same.
  • Maintain and support middleware stack (Datapower and MQ) including integration endpoint management.
  • Maintain and support source code management (e.g. TFS/ Bit bucket /GitHub)
  • Plan, test and execute automated software deployments and system patches.
  • Provide internal/external technical assistance and support for escalated requests related to systems, software, and hardware.
  • Create and maintain automation and administration scripts using various tools (e.g. PowerShell, Python, etc.).
  • Support cross functional testing of application solutions.
  • Support and utilize Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery framework (Xebia platform) for providing self-service and automation initiatives.
  • Support performance management and software availability.
  • Support the configuration and enforcement of all security policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshooting, triage and production support.
  • Self-motivated and willing to research and pursue technical challenges.
  • Assist/Respond to all audit requests.
  • Perform scripting to automate common tasks and otherwise improve the organization's DevOps capabilities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Needs to regularly support off-hour activities
  • Ability to be “on call” regularly.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in software delivery which includes a minimum of 3 years in Release/Devops engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience required
  • Release Implementing – Strong Scripting and change management competency and ability to apply change management techniques with a good understanding of the software development life cycle process.
  • Tools and Technical skills – Ability to demonstrate appropriate use of tools and technical skills to optimize the testing effort with highest quality such as (XLDeploy/XLRelease/TFS)
  • Functional and Analytical skills – Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills by decomposing the requirements based on domain and testing knowledge.
  • Application server skills and aptitude – Strong understanding & Experience of application server (IIS/Tomcat/TC).
  • Learning – Ability to learn quickly (functional and technical aptitudes) and work in a fast paced environment and adapt to change.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.

Pay Range: $97,947-$113,724
