Job Description Primary Purpose:

Provide analysis of Engineer train operation for the purpose of evaluation and Incident investigation.

 

Principal Duties:
  • Maintains current locomotive engineer certification, knowledge of FRA requirements, engines, air brakes, electrical systems, fuel systems, and Energy Management systems.
  • Wirelessly downloads and analyzes train handling data and provides analysis of that data to ensure train handling procedural compliance.
  • Conducts LET and Engineer performance evaluations for annual monitoring and certification utilizing event recorder data, Locomotive simulators, and train ride activity.
  • Provides training and qualification of locomotive engineers officers across the system and provides support for Road Managers as directed.
  • Oversees the continuing education, training, evaluation, and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) certification of all locomotive engineers.
  • Investigates train handling incidents to develop the cause and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintains a practical and working knowledge of all emerging technologies related to train operations and evaluation.
  • Review Train Build Compliance exceptions.
  • Provide Real Time assistance for Train Delays involving Train line issues, DP problems, etc  thru AVTEC radio system.
Education:

Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BS) Preferred Majors: Not Specified

Licenses /Certifications:

Required: Locomotive Engineer Certification
