At NorthBay Health the OB-GYN Advance Practice Provider (APP) supports the Center for Women's Health practice in providing low risk antepartum, intra-partum and postpartum care, pre-conception, family planning, routine gynecology, and well woman care. The OB-GYN APP will provide routine prenatal care to pregnant women from point of entry into care through the immediate post-partum period.  The OB-GYN APP will conduct physical examinations, prescribe medications including controlled substances and contraceptive methods, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests. The OB-GYN APPwill include health promotion, disease prevention and individualized wellness education and counseling. Patient care is provided under the direction of a supervising physician within the Center for Women's Health.

The Advance Practice Provider (APP) is classified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of California. 

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  • Supports organizational mission statement, values and goals and role models to staff and others.
  • Performs a patient medical history and physical and initial obstetric evaluation of patient at first prenatal visit.
  • Provides ongoing low risk prenatal care to women from point of entry into care through delivery.
  • Provides post-partum care including comprehensive family planning counseling.
  • Selects, performs and/or interprets the appropriate routine laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Reviews all lab and diagnostic results with patients. Reviews and follows up on any abnormal testing with patient.
  • Provides comprehensive well woman services according to annual health maintenance guidelines.
  • Provides appropriate STD testing and treatment. Provides appropriate HIV testing and treatment/referral.
  • Requests specialty consultation as approved by supervising physician.
  • Provides routine gynecological services including preventative care, primary care for well women. 
  • Provides patient education, health counseling and guidance to patients.
  • Identifies high risk obstetric problems and communicates any transfers care with an OB-GYN physician
  • Documents all care rendered in the medical record in a timely fashion. 
  • Completes and submits coded charges for each patient encounter.
  • Prescribes medications as per protocol under the direction of the supervising physician.


Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program approved by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). 
  • Or Master's required. Graduate of an accredited nursing program including a Nurse Practitioner Program.

Licensure/Credentials: 

  • Current Physician Assistant licensure by the State of California Physician Assistant Examining Committee and Board Certified. 
  • OR Current California licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and Board Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. 
  • Current AHA or equivalent certification in CPR.          
  • Maintains a current DEA license for schedule 2 drugs and above. 
  • Maintains a current Furnishing Number for medications.

Experience: 

Nurse Practitioner:  Three (3) years' experience in an active OB/GYN Practice. 

Physician Assistant: 3 years of experience as a Physician Assistant practicing in a related

Skills:  Demonstrates ability to evaluate patient's physical and emotional status.  Demonstrates ability to provide patient care based on age-related needs. Demonstrates current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups:  Adult, Young Adult, Adolescent, Pediatric, and Neonatal.  Demonstrates clear credentials check through the AHP process.

Hours of Work:  M-F, hours may be flexed for patient convenience/satisfaction. 

Compensation: 

  • Physician Assistant: hourly salary range MIN $82.94 – MAX $100.80
  • Nurse Practitioner: hourly salary range MIN $91.92 – MAX $111.78 
  • MAX rate is commensurate of 20+ years APP experience
  • Offered rate will be based on years of APP experience
