Northwell Health is recruiting a Medical Director to lead the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences team at Staten Island University Hospital. The ideal candidate should be energetic, innovative and enjoy working in a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Providing medical leadership to attending physicians working in all ambulatory mental health settings,
  2. Initiating and implementing Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement projects,
  3. Organizing and overseeing the integration of primary care and behavioral health programs including: liaison with the Medical Ambulatory programs; overseeing collaborative care treatment activities in partnership with Northwell's Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL); coordinating integrated services in partnership with our Addiction Services programs and Northwell's Addiction Services Service Line; overseeing community partnerships in the advancement of integrated mental health services for the Staten Island community,
  4. Managing the clinical experience of, and providing clinical supervision and teaching to, residents and medical students assigned to ambulatory mental health rotations, and
  5. Collaborating with Administration in managing ambulatory mental health data analysis; implementing clinical practice guidelines and transformation projects; supervising and monitoring the clinical performance of ambulatory mental health providers; and assisting in ongoing professional practice evaluations of providers.

Staten Island University Hospital's Department of Behavioral Health Sciences provides comprehensive psychiatric care in a private, patient-centered environment. With over 1,450 discharges per year, it is one of the most active comprehensive mental health centers on Staten Island. Our 35-bed inpatient unit provides short-term hospital care to evaluate and stabilize patients with acute psychiatric disorders. There is a strong focus on returning patients to normal functioning as soon as possible while rebuilding self-esteem and improving socialization.
