This position will work from the Denison, IA location at 10 Opportunity Dr, Denison, IA 51442
We are currently seeking a (1099) Dentist in Denison, IA for 8.8 a week.

The Center Dentist will adhere to the policies, procedures, and guidelines for the center dental program, as established by the Federal Job Corps Program, as defined in the Policy Requirement Handbook (PRH). Dental Services to be provided as authorized with the oversight of the Health and Wellness Director, with the counsel of the Center Director.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Early detection, diagnosis of oral health problems, basic oral-health care, dental hygiene, and prevention/education.
2. Evaluates student concerns as recorded on the Health History at first opportunity, preferably during the dental facility's next opening hours on center or at first opportunity by the Center Dentist.
3. Complete a dental readiness inspection on all students within fourteen days (14) after the date of entry by the Dentist or designee determined by the Dentist who authorizes the activity by written personal authorization.
4. The Dentist or designee will utilize the Dental Readiness Inspection Checklist and document findings on the Physical Examination form.
5. Provides student elective oral examinations, including bitewing X-rays, and priority classification completed and recorded on the Job Corps approved oral examination form as per student request.
6. Providing a written diagnosis and treatment plan as part of the Oral Health and Wellness Plan for students upon their request as a follow-up to the dental readiness inspection obtaining a consent for voluntary care before proceeding with treatment of same.
7. Providing procedures to treat oral disease and correct oral health conditions that may represent employability barriers, to include restorations, extractions of pathological teeth, root canal therapy on anterior/other strategic teeth, replacement of missing upper anterior teeth with a removable prosthesis.
8. Providing basic dental care, as defined by the Job Corps Policy & Requirements Handbook (PRH 2.3 R3).
9. Providing ongoing oral health education.
10. Establish a written referral plan or agreement with community faculties for emergent or urgent conditions treatable beyond the expertise of a general dentist and within budgetary constraints.
11. Providing and arranging for twenty-four (24) hour emergency coverage.
12. Participate in the coordination and integration of the Oral Health & Wellness Plan with the wellness component, center activities, and community activities.
13. Maintaining the accuracy and confidentiality of all required oral health and wellness records when they are in the subcontractor's presence.
14. Providing support to students in acquiring oral health-related skills, knowledge, and attitudes that will make them employable.
15. Promoting opportunities for the students to practice the skills that will help to make them employable.
16. Developing and complying with Job Corps infection control policies and procedures.
17. Reviewing and signing Health Care Guidelines annually for Dental care in accordance with the Dentist Desk Reference Guide (DRG), on the Job Corps Health and Wellness website.
19. Arranging appropriate medical separations for dental needs, when required, in conformity with the PRH.
20. Collecting data and preparing reports as required by the Health and Wellness Director, Center Director, corporate oversight and/or the Department of Labor. Furnish any requested statistics to the HWD to complete any reports that may be due or requested.
21. Advising/consulting monthly with the Health and Wellness Director and Center Director on oral health and dental programmatic issues.
22. Cooperating with the Corporate and Regional Office Center Programming Assessments (PCAs). Annually for Corporate and Bi-Annually for Regional.
23. Ensuring that regular cleaning and preventative maintenance is provided for all dental equipment.
24. Staying current on Job Corps policies and procedures via frequent communication with the center's Health & Wellness Director, review of the Job Corps Health & Wellness website and attending the monthly regional medical/dental contractor calls or virtual meetings.
25. Ensure the maintenance, safeguarding, and confidentiality of all required dental records.
Qualifications Include:
- Must be a licensed Dentist to practice in Iowa
- Must have experience working with disadvantaged youth
- Job Corps experience preferred
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulation
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and listening
- Must have a valid Iowa driver's license with acceptable driving record
