Job Summary

 

The assistant production manager will be responsible for managing and assisting the production and plant manager with all the daily production and maintenance related activities. The selected candidate will assist in the daily supervision and operation of the plant and ensure that all employees strive to meet the standards set forth by the company for Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Customer Service, Preventative Maintenance and Housekeeping.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Assist Production Manager and Safety Manager with safety program and new hire onboarding/training
  • Ensure product quality requirements are being met and the program requirements are followed across all shifts; work directly with quality manager to develop and train on processes as needed
  • Work directly with plant scheduler to ensure attainment and line performance; ensure changeovers are executed to plan and that production reporting is accurate
  • Providing leadership to production associates and supervisors, assessing performance, and directing all operational activities to ensure efficient and cost effective line performance
  • Assist in inventory cycle counts
  • Attend and lead daily and weekly production meetings to review plant KPIs and develop actions for improvement
  • Implementing process improvement methods and ensuring non-stop production in an effective, safe and profitable manner
  • Work with engineering and maintenance teams on short and long term plant layout and output improvement projects
  • Planning and establishing work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
