This position focuses on creating technical drawings, 3D models, and documentation for factory automation projects. A significant focus will be on generating precise designs for machine frames and guarding utilizing RobotUnits brand aluminum extrusion products. You will work as part of a team to generate project documentation and provide technical support to colleagues. This includes hands-on involvement in the production process through the creation of assembly drawings and participation in final inspections.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drafting & Modeling: Prepare 2D and 3D drawings for machine frames, safety guarding, and automation solutions based on engineering concepts.
Documentation Management: Develop, review, and maintain detailed drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, and engineering change documentation.
Production Support: Participate in production floor activities by providing assembly instructions to technicians and assisting with assembly, product testing, and inspection as required.
Process Improvement: Contribute to the documentation of internal engineering and production processes to ensure consistency
Technical Support: Provide drafting or design-related technical support, guidance, or education to internal colleagues and customers.
Support other departments, including outside sales, often including the preparation or presentations of materials for customer facing meetings and design reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Complete or in-process associate's degree in mechanical Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
Software Proficiency: Strong experience with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software is required.
Manufacturing Knowledge: Foundational knowledge of fabrication processes and design for manufacturability.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively share project status and instructions.
Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
Organization: Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organized project files.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment with frequent hands-on work in a production setting, including automatic and manual equipment or tools operating.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Ability to sit for extended periods and use computer equipment for drafting.
Occasional regional travel may be required to assist with field measurements or client support.
