After successful completion of the probationary period, employee will receive off probation wage increase.


Summary:

This position plans, develops, organizes, and coordinates with other entities by providing community-based services following HUD approved Crime Prevention Program activities. Our intention is to empower our tenants to make positive choices through social, educational, and safe activities. We promote crime prevention in our neighborhoods in hopes of enhancing the quality of life for our people residing in our housing communities. Incumbent must be able to work evenings and weekends.


Responsibilities:

* Participate and assist in short and long range projects. This includes the ability to identify with team goals and objectives department planning, organizing, and scheduling activities.
* Plan, organize, schedule, implement, promote, and supervise a variety of activities and events to include, but not limited to after school activities, seasonal programming, summer programs, and special community events for CHD community centers.
* Provide cultural programming activities as well as general programming activities to CHD participants.
* Obtain price quotes and order needed equipment/supplies.
* Develop, maintain, and submit reports, notes, travel log, sign-in sheets, and other pertinent documents.
* Maintain records and prepare statistical reports for the crime prevention program monthly/annually.
* Maintain supplies and materials to include inspecting weekly, maintain inventory, and inform the supervisor of any repairs, replacement, or fault in equipment. Clean storage area as needed.
* Monitor the facility for safety. Lock and secure the facility at closing as required.
* Work closely with local police department, other agencies, and tribal departments to provide intervention activities to youth and families within CHD population.
* Prepare and provide snacks to participants, particularly with the after-school activities as necessary.
* Work with established educational services; provide homework or tutoring help, utilizing volunteers whenever possible.
* Work collaboratively with necessary entities; establish volunteer neighborhood watch/tenant patrol programs.

Skills:

Essential:
* Communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
* Obtain additional education and training
* Ability to be dependable, mature, possess initiative, self motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
* Operate standard office equipment such as telecommunications, fax, personal computer, copy and fax machines
* Must be able to implement Oneida culture in educational activities
* Knowledge and familiarity with American Indian cultures in general and the Oneida Nation specifically
* Customer/client relations. This requires the incumbent to be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and Tribal employees with tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity, and maturity
* Ability to establish, implement and evaluate to ensure success of the program

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Associates Degree in Parks/Rec/Leisure Facilities Management
* A Combination of Experience and Education May Be Considered

Essential:

  • Driver's License Personal & Tribal Vehicle
  • Insurance Required
Nonessential:
  • Driver Safety Training
  • Food Handlers Certification,  Within thirty (30) days of employment. Must maintain certification during the course of employment.
  •  Child Abuse Reporting Policy (CARP), within ninety (90) days of employment. 
  • CPR and Red Cross First Aide, within ninety (90) days of employment. maintain CPR and First Aide Certification during the course of employment.

Must be willing and able to obtain additional related education and training.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
