Summary:
Accomplish the School Board's strategic objectives by planning, organizing, and directing all functions required to operate and maintain educational programming, activities, and services of the Oneida Nation Elementary School and the Oneida Nation High School. Provide educational leadership and administrative oversight required to maintain and improve the level of academic excellence expected of the Oneida Nation School System. Administer the schools according to tribal, state, and federal laws, standards, and regulations in accordance with the philosophy and policies set by the Oneida Nation School Board. Provide professional leadership and coordination and assure effective execution for all Oneida Nation School Board programs.
Responsibilities:
* Direct, develop and submit strategic plans for the Oneida Nation School System.
* Direct the establishment, implementation, and communication of philosophy, mission, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures in accordance with the strategic plan.
* Supervise, assign duties to, and coordinate the activities of staff to include evaluations, scheduling, disciplinary actions, hiring, training, orientation, coaching, and employee motivation.
* Contribute to departmental effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues and goals that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of actions; implementing directives
* Prepare and present reports on the status, activities, and plans for current and future operations to the Oneida Nation School Board.
* Assure effective and efficient implementation of grant monies and assures compliance with policies and regulations imposed by funding sources.
* Achieve financial objectives by preparing and administering annual budget, presenting and justifying budget recommendations to appropriate personnel.
* Secure additional funding and grant monies for continuation and expansion of school services.
* Oversee BIE programs for regulation compliance.
* Supervise expenditures and seeks independent funding for tribal contribution portion of the budget.
* Cultivate an effective organizational system through which to implement, and support Oneida Nation School curriculum.
* Encourage a positive working relationship between schools, the School Board, the community, and senior leadership or elected officials.
* Cultivate cooperative relationships with other tribal programs, local service providers, social service agencies, educational facilities, health facilities, and other pertinent organizations.
* Develop procedures for coordinating and carrying out directives.
* Develop an effective communication system with staff and parents, promoting confidentiality and credibility.
* Schedule regular staff meetings to ensure communication between personnel and school-related activities.
* Ensure appropriate and accurate record-keeping.
* Adhere to School Board and Oneida Nation policies, procedures, directives, and provisions.
* Oversee physical operations and maintenance for the Oneida Nation Schools. Including: preparing budget requests; managing, identifying, and documenting the requirements of the BIA System; requesting repairs or improvement needs; and applying for new or rehabilitative construction needs.
* Contribute to the School System's effectiveness by offering information and opinion as the senior leader of the School System; integrating objectives with other functions; and accomplishing related results as needed.
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations

* Skill in translating Board policies into effective educational and management programs.
* Ability to develop and encourage an educational environment which results in a climate of warmth and acceptance, encourages pride in work; and supports the development of character and feeling of self-worth in each student.
* Ability to maintain harmony between the educational program and the most recent and best educational thoughts and practices.
* Ability to develop and implement short- and long-range programs for building and facility construction and/or renovation.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.
A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.
Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
